By kind permission of Dublin City Public LibrariesIn 1851 the Dublin University Magazine published "Ghost Stories of Chapelizod": a collection of three stories - The Village Bully , The Sexton's Adventure, and The Spectre Lovers - set in the suburban village of Chapelizod, outside Dublin.
Le Fanu would have known the Chapelizod area well: he attended the Royal Hibernian School, in the nearby Phoenix Park, for a short time during his childhood.
