Burmese

The Burmese was first bred in the 1930s by Dr Joseph Thompson of San Francisco. He acquired a walnut-brown female cat from Burma and through selective breeding with a Siamese, the Burmese breed came into being.

Description
Burmese cats have a name for being quite heavy in weight given their size, and are often described as ‘bricks wrapped in silk’. They have very short hair that has a soft, satin-like texture and their large eyes have a somewhat hypnotic effect. The Burmese cat has a very personable character and enjoys human company. Like many cats, it is often justly accused of ruling the household!

Care
Burmese cats should be kept indoors as, like the Ragdoll, their trusting nature over-rules any survival instinct. However, the Burmese is a healthy breed and are not susceptible to any specific problems. They do not require much grooming as they generally take care of it themselves.
