Russian Blue

The Russian Blue is a naturally occurring breed that is believed to have first arrived in Britain from the Archangel Islands in Russia. Its country of origin, together with its dusky silver-blue coat gives the breed its name, although the first record of the breed in 1875 referred to it as the Archangel Cat.

Description
This is a shorthaired breed of cat with almond-shaped, vivid green eyes. It has a thick, lustrous silver-blue coat that is typically a double coat, probably for warmth during the cold Russian winters. The Russian Blue is extremely intelligent and loyal, and their graceful movements have been likened to ballerinas. It has a quiet, gentle character.

Care
The diet of a Russian Blue should be controlled –if allowed, it would graze all day and quickly become overweight and unhealthy. The breed requires minimal grooming and occasional combing should be enough to maintain its coat.
