Labels and Tracksuits

Typical mid-twentieth century clothing was designed to be hard-wearing and functional. Comfort and style are now of great importance to a lot of people and this is reflected in the clothes they wear. This means that people buy clothes much more frequently as fashions change quickly.

Although it was important to dress up for mass and other religious occasions, like the one pictured below, designer clothing was something only the very rich could afford to wear.

In recent years, two of the most dramatic changes in clothing have been the widespread popularity of designer labels and the use of sports gear for everyday wear.
