New Schools Opening
By 1887 Dick's Charity School and Coolock Parish School closed. Pupils from both of these schools transferred to Raheny Schools.
By this time many places across the country began applying to set up schools under the National School System. The photographs below show two national schools that opened around this time.
The school above was built in 1877. It was built of local stone. It was furnished with a teacher's table, 6 long benches and a clock. In 1877 about 105 pupils attended this school.
A new school was built in 1962. This building is now used for community purposes. The windows and heating are new.
