Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown has nine full-time branch libraries and a part-time centre, serving the cultural, educational, recreational and information needs of the community.  Over 500,000 items are available for lending throughout the branches including books and CD’s for adults and young people, fiction and non-fiction, large print and literacy material.  A wide range of services is also available, such as an inter-library loan service, free public Internet access and a home and schools' library service. Highlights in the annual cultural programme include the Festivals of Bealtaine, Saoire summer events, Children’s Book Festival, Science Week, the widely acclaimed Féile Filíochta/International Poetry Competition and a lively programme of exhibitions.
