Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery of Modern Art
The Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery of Modern Art contains an important collection of both Irish and international modern and contemporary art. Initially the gallery contained the collection of Sir Hugh Lane (Lane perished when the Lusitania was torpedoed in 1915). It has expanded since then to include nearly 2,000 works. Among the artists represented in the gallery are Manet, Monet, Renoir and Degas of the Impressionist school. On permanent display are artists such as Rodin, Jack B. Yeats, Francis Bacon and Louis le Brocquy and many more.
