Exhibitions include the finest collection of prehistoric gold artefacts in western Europe, outstanding examples of metalwork from the Celtic Iron Age and the Museum’s world-renowned collection of medieval ecclesiastical objects and jewellery.
The collection includes 'The Treasury,' featuring outstanding examples of Celtic and Medieval art such as the famous Ardagh Chalice, the Tara Brooch and the Derrynaflan Hoard.
There is also a new exhibition introducing the recently-conserved 'Faddan More Psalter' in the context of the National Museum’s re-display of its world famous collection of masterpieces from Celtic and Early Christian Ireland.
'Kingship and Sacrifice Exhibition' features Iron Age bog bodies and related finds royal regalia, horse trappings, weapons, feasting utensils, boundary markers and votive deposits of butter known as bog butter.
'Ór - Ireland's Gold' features the finest collection of prehistoric gold artefacts in Europe including sundiscs and the crescentic gold collars called lunulae.
Admission to the National Museum of Ireland - Archaeology is FREE.
