Glendalough (Gleann Dá Loch) is a glacial valley situated in the Wicklow Mountains National Park, Co. Wicklow. The ruins of early medieval monastic settlements founded in the 7th century by St. Kevin are well known.

The monuments in the lower valley include a gateway, round tower and a number of churches. At the Upper Lake there are other church ruins including St. Kevin’s Cell. In the rock face there is a cave known as St. Kevin’s Bed.

There are a number of walks through oak woodland around the Glendalough Valley and these are colour-coded according to difficulty. Inexperienced walkers are recommended to take the appropriate routes. Paths lead up into the high ground with views of the valley below.

Walkers can purchase maps or take guided tours. Glendalough is also a point on the Wicklow Way, a 132km walking route from Rathfarnham, Co. Dublin to Clonegal, Co. Carlow which passes through the area.

The steep cliff faces in the valley are also used by rock climbing enthusiasts.
