Insulation
Adequate insulation is a must for all houses. Many houses in Ireland, particularly those built prior to 1980, are not energy efficient and are poorly insulated. Effective insulation of your home walls, attic, boiler, windows, and doors can dramatically reduce heat loss. You can insulate your attic and some areas around the house yourself by obtaining the appropriate insulation and equipment from your local DIY store. More complex insulation measures may require external specialists.
You can reduce the amount of heat lost in a home by 25% by eliminating drafts, and up to 30% of heat lost in a house is lost through the attic.
There is more information on how to save energy and money by insulating your home at www.powerofone.ie.
