ABC to VRT
The ABCs of VRT
Since July 1st 2008 , VRT has no longer been calculated on the size of the car’s engine but rather on the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2 ) emissions produced by the car. So the lower the car’s emissions the lower your VRT and annual motor tax. There is now a real incentive to choose a car that’s good for the environment and good for your pocket!
What it says on the Label
To make it easier for you to make your choice the government introduced a new labelling system that rates cars from A to G, with A having the lowest emissions and G having the highest. The label is similar to the energy rating labels you find on electrical appliances and it includes other important information like fuel use and environmental information.
Scroll over the label below and you’ll get more information on each
panel of the label.
