Loughboy Book Club-Riveting Reads
This book club was formed by library staff member Helen Kenneally on World Book Day 2005 in response to public interest and the popularity of book clubs at that time.
There are male and female members and numbers vary between five and ten per meeting. The club has its own corner in the library and the meetings can be very lively, fun and sometimes noisy gatherings! Meetings are facilitated in turn by the members with advice, reading suggestions and initial discussion questions provided by library staff. Members may request chosen books from the library or alternatively beg, buy or borrow their own copies. There is no obligation to attend every meeting and staff will endeavour to keep members posted on what they have missed. The club also publicise in advance the books they intend to read and will contact members of the library about these if they so wish
A few books are usually chosen each month and there is plenty of opportunity to discuss titles other than those chosen. Meets on first Thursday of the month at 10.30am Loughboy@kilkennylibrary.ie
