Thomas MacCreevy was born in Tarbert Co. Kerry on the 16th October 1893.
His father Thomas MacCreevy was a policeman and his mother Margaret, née Enright was a primary school teacher. His father came to Tarbert in the 1880's with the Royal Irish Constabulary. Margaret and Thomas met and married in 1882 and set up home in Church St. Tarbert. They had seven children - Mary Josephine, Winifred, Margaret Catherine, Hanora, Michael, Thomas and Bridget.
Thomas, the sixth of the seven children was born on 26 October 1893. He attended the local National School until the age of sixteen when he left Tarbert to take up a position in the Civil Service in Dublin.
