Cork County Hall
Cork County Council is an excellent example of a sustainable structure.
This bulding is an excellent example of Accessible Design and a sustainable structure. The tower has been fitted out with a climactically responsive glass louver façade - which allows it to be naturally ventilated - text pads, anti-glare blinds, wheelchair accessible toilets on eight floors and lifts on each floor.

The re-developed Cork County Hall was officially opened on 26th June 2006 by Councillor Michael Creed, Mayor of County Cork. The building is an excellent example of an accessible design and a sustainable structure.
The newly updated tower has been fitted out with text pads, anti-glare UV protection blinds, wheelchair accessible toilets on eight floors and lifts on each floor. A major part of of the redevelopment was the replacement of the deteriorated non-structural concrete cruciform with a climactically responsive glass louver façade. This allows the building to be naturally ventilated.
The original floor to ceiling glazing was replaced with a new thermally broken glazing system, which is energy efficient and actively reduces the carbon footprint of the building.
Cork County Hall was first opened in 1968 by Mr Martin J. Corry T.D., Chairman of Cork County Council. Its recent redevelopment has greatly improved its green credentials, ensuring that the building has reduced its environmental impact and improved accessibility for both workers and visitors.
