Lakeland Dairies
Bailieboro, County Cavan
Lakeland Dairies is the largest non-whey milk drying plant in Europe. A new state of the art dryer and evaporator became operational in 2010.The new plant consolidates all the milk powder manufacturing operations of Lakeland Dairies at the Bailieboro site into one single facility with high-tech systems. The consolidation enables the cooperative to cut processing and operational costs.
After the installation of a new dryer and evaporator the steam and electricity requirements on the host site increased. The CHP facility now supplies the majority of the site steam and electricity requirements while guaranteeing energy cost savings and reliability to the host site. A limited amount of excess electricity is exported back to the grid. Fingleton White provide and operate the 5MW and heat producing CHP plant.
