Entrance Gate
Volunteer Entrance Gate to Lisreaghan or Belvue, Lawrence, County Galway. Rev. C Lawrence, formerly Vicar of Thurton, Diocese of Norwich; Erected by Col. Walter Lawrence [below], born 1729, died 1796.
The following is the translation of the inscription which appears on this ancient Gateway:--
"Liberty after a along servitude was won, on 16th April, 1782, by the armed sons of Hibernia, who with heroic fortitude, regained their ancient laws and established their ancient Independence'.
