Tá an scéal scríofa sa gcéad phearsa agus cuireann síos ar an duine in aghaidh an nádúr. Tá an scéal bunaithe ar eachtraí máirnéalaigh Alexander Selkirk, a chaith tréimhse ar oileán uaigneach mara.

Ón seanscéal 'Eachtra Righ Thuaithe Luchra is Lupracán go Heachain'. Tá sé ráite ag tús an scéil seo go bhféadfadh sé go raibh baint éigin ag an scéal le scéal Swift agus go mba é an bunús é don scéal 'Voyage to Lilliput' agus chomh maith leis sin go dtug sé cabhair do Swift leis an scéal 'Brobdinging'. Tá an scéal seo san gcéad chuid de 'Aidedh Fergusa'(The Death of Fergus) mar atá i 'Silva Gadelica' le Standish Ó Grady.
